CONWAY, S.C. – The Purdue softball team remains perfect with a 4-0 record at the Kickin' Chicken Classic after taking down Coastal Carolina (2-2), 9-4. The victory saw 14 hits, just one shy of matching Purdue's 2021 game-high.
Junior Mo Wimpee earned her first win of the year after securing a save earlier today vs. ECU. The righty reached a pair of career milestones by tossing her first complete game and a career-high seven strikeouts with just one walk after serving up 101 pitches.
A total of six Boilermakers accounted for the nine runs while defensively, Purdue posted 21 putouts.
The Boilermakers put on a home run clinic, posting two in the victory to bring the weekend total to nine. Jade Moy recorded her first career homer in the fourth inning for the eventual game-winner, while Rachel Becker produced the fifth of her career in the sixth inning.
Moy led the team with three hits while tying for the lead with two runs and two RBI.
Purdue will be back tomorrow to close out the tournament at Coastal Carolina at 10 a.m. ET vs. Georgetown.
