Women's Tennis Announces Spring 2022 Schedule

Set for a 24-match regular season slate, including 16 at the Schwartz Tennis Center, the Purdue women's tennis team unveiled its 2022 spring dual season schedule on Thursday.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Set for a 24-match regular season slate, including 16 at the Schwartz Tennis Center, the Purdue women's tennis team unveiled its 2022 spring dual season schedule on Thursday.

Head coach Laura Glitz enters her 15th season at the helm in West Lafayette as the winningest coach in program history with a solid roster of tested veterans and experienced newcomers. Junior Csilla Fodor cracked into the ITA rankings at No. 111 in singles after a 13-2 record during the fall.

Freshman Carmen Gallardo Guevara shined during her first fall in West Lafayette with an 11-2 mark in singles, while sophomore Rut Galindo went 9-2 in singles, as well.

All matches at the Schwartz Tennis Center are free to attend. Live stats for home matches will be provided at PurdueStats.com, and indoor matches at the Schwartz Tennis Center will streamed on Playsight.com.

Purdue will face 10 teams that were ranked in the final ITA poll at the end of the 2021 season - Ohio State (12), Michigan (16), Iowa State (34), Iowa (41), Washington (43), Tulsa (48), Nebraska (51), Illinois (56), Notre Dame (57) and Wisconsin (64). Purdue will also face five teams that competed in the NCAA Tournament a year ago, including Sweet 16 qualifiers Ohio State and Michigan. 

With four returners and a trio of freshmen, the Boilermakers will open 47th campaign with six straight home matches at the Schwartz Tennis Center in January, the longest homestand to start a season in program history.

A doubleheader against Cincinnati and IUPUI on Jan. 16 will start the year, before matches against Xavier (Jan. 22), Valparaiso (Jan. 29), Bowling Green (Jan. 29) and Saint Louis (Jan. 30) wrap up the initial home stretch.

Purdue will then hit the road for a pair of matches at Tulsa on Feb. 5 and Notre Dame on Nov. 11.

Following the quick road swing, the Boilermakers will be back at the Schwartz Tennis Center for the rest of February against Iowa State (Feb. 13), Washington (Feb. 18), DePaul (Feb. 20), Butler (Feb. 27) and Illinois State (Feb. 27).

Big Ten play starts in the middle of March with a back-to-back trip at Michigan State and Michigan on March 19 and 20, respectively.

Purdue will make its home league debut March 26 against Nebraska before facing Iowa the next day.

The annual rivalry showdown with Indiana as a part of the Governor's Cup will be April 2 in Bloomington. Purdue will also travel to Illinois on April 8.

Following a tilt with Ohio State at home on April 10, the Boilermakers will close the road portion of the campaign at Rutgers on Feb. 15 and Maryland on Feb. 17. The regular season concludes the following weekend against Wisconsin (April 23) and Minnesota (April 24) at the Schwartz Tennis Center.

Purdue will hit the road for the Big Ten Tournament from April 27-May 1 at Iowa.
