LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Tomasz Dudek and Sebastian Welch reached the final of their main singles draws Saturday at the Louisville Invitational, while a pair of doubles teams made the consolation finals in doubles.
Dudek reached the finals of the B draw with a pair of victories. In the quarterfinals, Dudek topped Vikash Singh from Indiana over three sets, 6-2, 6-7(5), 6-4, before a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Jonathan Sorbo from Kentucky. The junior will play Ilya Tiraspolsky from Indiana in the championship Sunday.
Welch picked up a pair of wins in the C main draw to set up a finals showdown against Kyle Tang from Louisville. The Chilean international cruised over Nishanth Basacareddy of Indiana in a 6-2, 6-3 decision in the quarterfinals, before outlasting Wojciech Szczesny in the semis in a three-set clash, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
Purdue saw other singles wins across consolation draws. Gabriele Brancatelli topped Marko Galic from Toledo, 6-3, 6-3. Athell Bennett beat Louisville's Matthew Fung in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0. Rohan Sachdev also beat Galic in the A flight, coming from behind to win 4-6, 6-3, 10-7.
The doubles A flight saw a pair of Boilermaker teams pick up wins in the consolation draw. Dudek and Milledge Cossu beat Juan Zabala and Juan Lombisano from ETSU in a tiebreaker 7-6(4), and Piotr Galus and Michal Wozniak topped Galic and Shoults from Toledo 6-4.
The Louisville Invitational wraps up Sunday morning.
