WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue cross country team returns to competition at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, October 15, in Madison, Wisconsin.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue cross country team returns to competition at the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational on Friday, October 15, in Madison, Wisconsin.
 
The meet will feature two women's 6k races and two men's 8k races at Wisconsin's Thomas Zimmer Championships Cross Country Course. The women's B event is at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT, and the Championship race is set for 1:20 p.m. ET / 12:20 p.m. CT. The men's B race is at 12:40 p.m. ET / 11:40 a.m. CT, and the Championship event will be contested at 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT.

A maximum of seven student-athletes from each team will be allowed to run in the championship race, and an unlimited number of runners can enter the B race. Twelve Boilermaker men and nine Purdue women are set to compete on Friday, with the championship race contenders not officially announced prior to the race.
 
A total of 37 women's teams and 33 men's teams will run on Friday. Along with Purdue and host-Wisconsin, the Big Ten will be represented by the men and women from Indiana, Michigan State, and Minnesota and the men from Michigan.
 
As the Boilermakers run at their fourth meet of the season, they return to the course after a weekend off. Friday's meet also marks the first of three consecutive weeks of competition for the Old Gold and Black.
 
The men's team is receiving votes in the latest USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll. In the Great Lakes Region, the men are No. 5 and the women are No. 9.
 
LAST TIME OUT: JOE PIANE INVITATIONAL
Purdue competed at the Joe Piane – Notre Dame Invitational on October 1. Senior Curt Eckstein led the way for the men, while freshman Emma Squires was the top women's finisher for the Boilermakers. As a team, the men placed 13th in the blue division 5 mile race, and the women were 18th in the blue division 5k event. Eckstein was 34th overall with a 5 mile time of 24:12.0, and Squires ran the 5k race in 17:09.3 to place 57th.
