WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's tennis team capped an impressive first tournament of the 2021-22 season with four wins in five singles matches against Ball State on Sunday morning at the Purdue Invite.
Freshmen Julen Moran and Rohan Sachdev completed a perfect weekend for their first college competition and were named to the all-tournament team. Sachdev and senior Athell Bennett also earned the same honor following a 3-0 performance in doubles on Friday.
The two rookies had to earn their wins Sunday morning, both going to three sets. Sachdev outlasted Nathaniel Webster in a third-set tiebreak to win 6-3, 5-7, 7-6(1). Morgan cruised in his third set against Petar Petrovic to win 6-1, 1-6, 6-2.
Fellow freshman Gabriele Brancatelli dominated his match against Vice Orlando, 6-1, 6-3. Milledge Cossu followed suit in straight sets against Abe Wojtalik, 6-4, 6-4.
The Boilermakers will hit the road for the rest of the fall, starting next week with the ITA Ohio Valley Regional in Knoxville, Tenn.
