Men's Tennis Opens Purdue Fall Invite

Purdue took eight of 10 doubles matches on the first day of the Purdue Fall Invite. 

WEST LAFAYETTE, IND. - The Purdue men's tennis team opened the 2021-22 campaign Friday afternoon with the Purdue Fall Invite. The Boilermakers claimed eight of the 10 doubles contests at the Schwartz Tennis Center. 
 
Purdue opened the doubles session against IUPUI with a clean sweep. Milledge Cossu and Gabriele Brancatelli claimed a 6-4 lead at the top of the order. In his first match since 2020, Athell Bennett teamed up with Rohan Sachdev to win 6-3 at No. 2.  Polish duo Michal Wozniak and Tomasz Dudek picked up a 6-4 victory at No. 3. Julen Morgan paired with Phasu Sirinit to win 6-3. 

In the second set of doubles, the Boilermakers downed DePaul in all three doubles matches. Bennett and Sachdev rolled to a 6-3 win over Lars Order Minsas and Luuk Wassenar. Wozniak and Brancatelli took a 6-3 decision against Matt Iaquinto and Tripp Tuff. Dudek and Morgan capped a perfect second session with a 6-4 against Jona Gitschel and Sven Moser. 

Purdue went 1-2 in the third session with Bennett and Sachdev completing a perfect day with a 6-3 win over Chris Adams and Danilo Kovacik. 

The Boilermakers will return to Scwartz Tennis Center on Saturday  with singles against IUPUI at 9 a.m. and DePaul at 3 p.m.
