WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Playing in their first non-dual match competition since November 2019, the Purdue men's tennis team is set to host the Purdue Fall Invite this weekend at the Schwartz Tennis Center.
The Boilermakers will welcome IUPUI, DePaul and Ball State for set of hidden duals. Admission is free for fans. Masks are required on the grounds of the Schwartz Tennis Center.
Head coach Pawel Gajdzik has one of the deepest rosters in his 13 years at Purdue. The 10-man roster features six returners and four newcomers.
2020 ITA Most Improved Senior Athell Bennett is back for his final campaign in West Lafayette. The redshirt senior reached the second-highest ranking in program history at No. 20 in 2020. Bennett was named an ITA All-American Championships qualifier earlier this week. He will head to Tulsa, Okla., over Oct. 2-10 as Purdue's lone representative.
Top of the order returners also include juniors Sebastian Welch and Michal Wozniak. The duo exclusively competed at No. 2 and 3 last season in singles. Andre Suzanne, Milledge Cossu and Tomasz Dudek are back with a focus to improve after promising campaigns in the spring.
The young crowd of newcomers is perhaps the most talented in the Gajdzik era. Tennis Recruiting Network five-star recruits Rohan Sachdev, Gabriele Brancatelli and Julen Morgan will look to make an impact after impressive junior careers, while Polish international Piotr Galus will make his anticipated debut this weekend as well.
