WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue junior tight end Payne Durham was named the John Mackey Tight End of the Week by the John Mackey Award following his career day against Oregon State last Saturday.
Durham snagged a career-high seven passes for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Boilermakers' 30-21 win over the Beavers.
The Suwanee, Ga., native came up strong in the fourth quarter of the season opener. After just two receptions for 31 yards in the opening three frames, Durham made five catches for 89 yards over the final 15 minutes, including scores of five and 50 yards, the latter a career long.
The weekly honor was the first of Durham's career.
Purdue will head out to Hartford, Conn., on Saturday to face UConn. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.
