WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's golf team begins its 2021-22 season this weekend at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate, held at prestigious Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin. Action will get underway on Sunday and will end Tuesday with 18 holes being played all three days.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's golf team begins its 2021-22 season this weekend at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate, held at prestigious Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin. Action will get underway on Sunday and will end Tuesday with 18 holes being played all three days.

The field consists of three teams ranked in the preseason coaches' poll and four more that are receiving votes. Six Big Ten teams will be in the field as the Boilermakers are joined by Iowa, Minnesota, Northwestern, Ohio State and Wisconsin.
This will be Purdue's first fall event since playing the Crooked Stick Invitational on Oct. 14-15, 2019.

PURDUE LINEUP
  • Joe Weiler, Senior / Bloomington, Indiana
    • Coming off an outstanding summer, winning the Northern Amateur and placing in the top 20 in three other events (3rd at Northeast Amateur; 12th at Monroe Invitational; 18th at Dogwood Invitational). Also won a U.S. Amateur qualifier by five shots, earning a spot in the U.S. Amateur.
    • Was a second-team All-Big Ten selection last year after placing runner-up at the Big Ten Championships. Also finished T-10th at the NCAA Noblesville Regional.
    • Enters the season ranked sixth on the career strokes average list (73.42) and has eight career top-10 finishes (five top-5 showings).
    • Has excelled the last two seasons, with a 72.11 average in 15 events and eight top-10 finishes.
    • Enters the event with five straight rounds of 73 or better (three straight of even or under par).
  • Cole Bradley, Senior / West Lafayette, Indiana
    • Returning honorable mention All-American and was a second-team All-Big Ten honoree last season.
    • Ranks seventh on the career strokes average list (73.51).
    • Owns 10 career top-20 showings, Purdue's active leader.
    • Won the NCAA Noblesville Regional last May and finished 39th at the NCAA Championships – Purdue's highest finish since 2004.
    • Should threaten the record for career events and rounds played. Has played in 40 events and 119 rounds – school records are 54 events and 155 rounds.
  • Herman Sekne, Sophomore / Oslo, Norway
    • Posted a 74.10 stroke average as a freshman – good for fifth all-time among Purdue freshmen.
    • Posted a top-five finish at last year's Kiawah Invitational and a top-15 showing at the loaded Calusa Cup.
    • Had three top-10 finishes this summer, including sixth at the Golfweek Myrtle Beach Amateur.
    • Placed 34th at the Big Ten Championships, but shot just 5-over par the last two rounds.
  • Luke Prall, Sophomore / Carmel, Indiana
    • Has had an excellent preseason, qualifying to be among the counting five.
    • Led Carmel HS to the 2018 and 2019 state titles, placing sixth in the individual race as a junior.
    • Competed at the 2020 Western Amateur.
  • Andrew Farraye, Senior / St. Augustine, Florida
    • Has had a strong preseason to work himself back into the lineup.
    • Won the Golfweek Purdue Amateur this summer, shooting 8-under par over three rounds at Ackerman-Allen Golf Course.
    • Has competed in 17 career events, owning a career 74.00 stroke average.

THE COURSE
One of the upper Midwest's great golf courses, Erin Hills has hosted several high-profile events in its 15 years of existence. The course hosted the 2017 U.S. Open Championship (won by Brooks Koepka) as well as the 2011 U.S. Amateur. It's slated to host the 2025 U.S. Women's Open and the 2022 U.S. Mid-Amateur. Stretched to 7,731 yards from the back tees, Erin Hills' contours and unique bunkering makes for a challenge from every tee.

ERIN HILLS INTERCOLLEGIATE HISTORY
This marks Purdue's third appearance in the Erin Hills Intercollegiate (also called the Marquette Intercollegiate). The Boilermakers finished T-8th (out of 15 teams) in October 2017 and then won the 2019 event at 9-under par 855. Cole Bradley (T-7), Andrew Farraye (T-10) and Joe Weiler (T-19) all finished in the top 20.
