Aug. 3 Update: Incoming Boilermaker Brady Samuels (Muncie, Ind. / Delta HS) is also racing in Greensboro for his Cardinal Community Swim Club.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Five Purdue swimmers are set to represent the men's program this week in Greensboro, North Carolina, racing in the East division of USA Swimming's 2021 Speedo Summer Championships.

Brett Riley (200 IM and 400 IM, 200 breast) and Michael Juengel (100 and 200 back, 200 IM) are slated to race in three individual events apiece while teaming with Andrew Alders, Blake Ratliff and Liam Walker for selected relays.

The action begins Tuesday morning and the Boilermakers have at least one event all five days of the meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, which also hosted the men's and women's NCAA Championships back in March. Juengel was among the nine qualifiers on the men's side.

The annual long-course showcase was split into East and West divisions this year. The state of Indiana represents the western edge of the East division. Swimmers training in states west of Michigan, Indiana, and the Mississippi River south of St. Louis were placed in the West division, with that meet held in Irvine, California.

Riley posted a trio of top-five finishes last month at the Indiana Senior State Championships, including runner-up showings in the 200-meter breaststroke and 400-meter individual medley. Alders was top three in the 100 breast and 200 IM. Alders, Juengel, Ratliff and Walker all swam on multiple relay winners for Boilermaker Aquatics in Indianapolis.

At the Big Ten Championships in March, Riley scored in all three of his individual events while Juengel and Alders were part of a program record in a relay.
