WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women's tennis head coach Laura Glitz added another piece ahead of the 2021-22 season with the signing of Juana Larranaga to a National Letter of Intent. Larranaga will join the Boilermakers in the fall.
Larranaga is the fourth member of the stacked 2021 Purdue signing class, including Florida native Jamilah Snells, Carmen Gallardo Guevara from Spain and Tara Milic from Slovenia.
"Adding Juana to our program is a huge step for our program," Glitz said. "After a career as one of the top junior players in the world and someone who has competed against top professional talent, Juana will fit in very well with the talent we have returning. We cannot wait to have her on campus and see her impact on our lineup."
The Argentina international closed a stellar singles career with an ITF Junior career-high ranking of No. 106 in the world prior to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown in 2020.
A dominant player in singles and doubles, Larranaga recorded a 54-26 record in singles and 35-26 in doubles play. She reached 13 quarterfinals in singles, nine semifinals and seven finals, taking home the singles titles at the Pascuas Bowl in Paraguay in 2019, the 2018 El Sauce Cup and 2018 El Ombu Cup.
In doubles, Larranaga won the Torneo Internacional RPC Ciduadad de Con Con in 2019 and the El Ombu Cup in 2018, after reaching 18 quarterfinals, nine semifinals and three championship matches.
She has a 12-7 record in professional events, reaching three main draws and earning 13 ITF points in her career and reaching No. 831 in the ITF World Singles Rankings.
