WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women's head coach Laura Glitz officially welcomed Carmen Gallardo Guevara to the program after signing a National Letter of Intent to play for the Boilermakers earlier this spring. The Spanish international will arrive in West Lafayette later this fall.
"We are thrilled to have Carmen join our family," Glitz said. "She is a hard worker and incredibly talented player with experience against top opposition from all over the world. We look forward to seeing her make an impact in our lineup when she gets here."
Gallardo Guevara recently capped off an impressive junior career in her native Spain. She rose as high as No. 2 in the nation for U16 in 2016 and stayed in the top five in various age groups throughout her junior days.
Gallardo Guevara was crowned the Champion of Madrid twice as a U16 and U18 during her junior campaigns.
When competing against professional opposition, the Madrid native earned her first WTA point when she was 15 years old. Per its website, Gallardo Guevara is 6-9 in professional singles events on the WTA circuit. Her highest ITF Women's World Tour ranking came late last year at No. 1045.
