WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's tennis head coach Pawel Gajdzik announced the signing of Gabriele Brancatelli to a National Letter of Intent. The Port Washington, N.Y., native will join the Boilermakers next fall.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's tennis head coach Pawel Gajdzik announced the signing of Gabriele Brancatelli to a National Letter of Intent. The Port Washington, N.Y., native will join the Boilermakers next fall.

"Gabriele is a huge get for our program," Gajdzik said. "He as shown incredible talent and growth on the court during his junior career. We believe that he will be able to make an instant impact when he arrives in West Lafayette, and we cannot wait to start working with him."

Brancatelli will join the Boilermakers as a four-star recruit from the Tennis Recruiting Network, climbing as high as No. 77 in the nation. The Port Washington, N.Y., native is ranked No. 11 in the Mid-Atlantic and No. 4 in the state of New York.

Born in Florence, Italy, Brancatelli's career has featured nine singles titles – 2018 L1 Point Set Summer's End Championship, L1 Ross School Independence Championship in 2018, L1 Ross School Summer Championship in 2018, L1B Port Washington Tennis Challenger in 2018, L1 Ross School August Championships in 2017, L1B Sportime Amagansett Challenger in 2017, L1B Sportime Quogue August Clay Challenger in 2016, L1B August Sportime Quogue Challenger in 2015 and the L20 Westhampton Beach II Open in 2015. He reached 14 singles semifinals, and 11 championship matches. He also punched his ticket to the fourth round of the U16 USTA Boys National Championship in 2019.

In doubles, the New York native has won three championships – 2019 Eastern Empire Cup National Doubles at Cross String and World Gym, the 2018 Empire Cup National Doubles at Midtown. He placed third two times, including the U16 flight at the USTA Winter National Championships and the Emprie Cup National Doubles at PWTA in 2018, while also reaching 12 semifinals and five championship rounds.
