Nine Boilermakers in National Rankings

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – This week's Track & Field National Rating Index includes nine ranked Purdue track & field student-athletes along with the team event rankings, where the Boilermakers are in the top-25 in 10 events.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – This week's Track & Field National Rating Index includes nine ranked Purdue track & field student-athletes along with the team event rankings, where the Boilermakers are in the top-25 in 10 events.
 
Both the Purdue men and women are ranked No. 62 nationally. The men are No. 2 in the Great Lakes Region and No. 5 in the Big Ten Conference, while the women check in at No. 7 in the region and No. 10 in the Big Ten.
 
The fourth week of rankings were announced today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). This week's rankings are the first based solely on marks earned through the first seven meets of the 2019-20 campaign.
 
A total of nine Boilermakers are ranked in the individual event rankings, with four in the top-15.
 
Senior Janae' Moffitt has Purdue's best ranking, at No. 9 in the high jump. She jumped a meet-record 1.81 meters on Jan. 17, at the Larry Wieczorek Invitational in Iowa City, Iowa.
 
In the 200-meter run, senior Samson Colebrooke checks in at No. 14. On Jan. 24, he finished in 20.88 seconds, the third-fastest time in school history and the fastest by a Boilermaker in the event since 2014. Colebrooke also is No. 17 in the 60-meter dash thanks to a time of 6.65 seconds on Jan. 10.
 
Also on Jan. 24 at the Rod McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Kentucky, junior Jalil Brewer recorded a shot put throw of 19.50 meters, which ranks No. 15 in the nation.
 
Senior Jah Strange scored a triple jump mark of 15.98 on Jan. 17, a jump that is No. 15 in the nation. It was 0.01 meters shy of his personal-best mark that is tied for third-best in program history.

In the team event rankings, the men and women are both ranked in 11 events. The men lead the way with a No. 8 ranking in the 60-meter dash and are in the top-25 in the 5,000-meter (No. 12), long jump (No. 17), 200-meter (No. 18) and 3,000-meter (No. 19). The women are led by a No. 14-ranking in the high jump and also are No. 25 in the 60-meters and 200-meters.

Up next, the Boilermakers return to Notre Dame for the Alex Wilson Invite on Saturday, Feb. 22. Competition is set to begin at 11 a.m. at UND's Loftus Sports Center. The meet is Purdue's final regular-season competition of the indoor season.
 
Last weekend, junior Brian Faust set a school record for the third time in eight days, as he broke his week-old 400-meter record. Faust was one of five Boilermakers to record marks that rank in the top-10 in team history. He was joined by sophomore pole vaulter Jessica Bray, whose jump is tied for fourth-best in the Purdue record books, freshman Kerris Roberts and sophomore Camille Christopher, who ran the fifth and ninth-fastest 200-meter dash times in program history, respectively, and sophomore Bailey McIntire, who notched the ninth-fastest 5,000-meter time in team history. At the Music City Challenge in Nashville, along with the distance runners competing at the Iowa State Classic, Purdue recorded four top-10 scores in team history, registered 19 top-five finishes and earned 19 personal-record totals.
