While competing against Calumet College of St. Joseph, Northern Illinois, Northern Colorado and Tennessee State, seven of Purdue's 10 wins also came with a second-place finish.
"I was very pleased with our performance today," Purdue coach Norbert Elliott said. "Overall, the team performed actually up to expectation. We've been working hard all fall long, and they've been chomping at the bit to perform and they didn't let me down, and in fact they didn't let any of our coaches down. Overall I was quite pleased, particularly with our freshmen athletes, they came in, this was their first opportunity to wear the P on their back, and on their chest, and they didn't let us down. So, overall I think it bodes well for the season to come."
