WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue women's tennis head coach Laura Glitz inked a highly-touted student-athlete to a national letter of intent on Wednesday, as Rut Galindo committed to continue her academic and athletic career with the Boilermakers.
Galindo, one of the top junior players in the world, cracked the top 100 of the ITF Juniors world rankings back in January.
During her junior career Guatemalan international reached more than 25 doubles semifinals and 15 singles semifinals. She claimed doubles titles in six of her 12 finals appearances and won four singles titles in her career out of 13 finals matches.
Her doubles trophy case includes hardware from the Copa Cariari in Costa Rica, Copa Tampico in Mexico, JITIC U18 Regional Championship in Mexico, the El Salvador ITF Junior 2017, Copa Arabe Internacional in Honduras and J4 Guatemala.
She claimed the singles titles at the J4 Guatemala, Copa Mundo Maya in Mexico, El Salvador ITF Junior 2017 and the Copa El Salvador.
Galindo has featured in a pair of Fed Cup's during her career for Guatemala. She is 4-0 in her career after making her debut in 2016, playing doubles matches. Guatemala went 3-0 with Galindo in the lineup in 2019.
