Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center / West Lafayette, Indiana
National Breadstick Day -- Free Breadsticks on mezzanine level while supplies last
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue swimming & diving's annual home-and-home series with Notre Dame continues Friday as the nationally ranked Fighting Irish visit campus for the lone dual meet of the fall semester at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center.
Action begins at 5 p.m. ET on Friday. The meet is expected to feature the traditional 16-event dual format, with the lone variance being the men choosing to race in the 400 individual medley while the women opt for the 200.
Jinq En Phee (100 breast), Trent Pellini (100 breast) and Nick McDowell (1,000 free) are the active Boilermakers that won events last year in South Bend. Phee won her top event vs. the Fighting Irish for the second season in a row. Nikola Bjelajac and Pellini also contributed to Purdue's victorious 200 medley relay team.
Notre Dame swept a season-opening dual vs. Florida State in South Bend, but went 0-4 in a triple dual vs. Indiana and Kentucky the following weekend in Lexington.
Friday's meet vs. UND is the first of six dual meet opponents for the Boilermakers. Next up is another good test – a Nov. 8 dual at Tennessee. The Volunteer women climbed from No. 15 to No. 3 in this week's top 25 coaches poll. The UT men are ranked 10th. The dual meet in Knoxville represents Purdue's lone road trip of the fall semester for the full teams. The divers have opted to compete at IUPUI's House of Championships Invitational while the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center hosts the Purdue Invitational next month (Nov. 21-23).
