COLUMBUS – The No. 20 Purdue volleyball team outlasted a determined Ohio State, 3-2 (25-17, 23-25, 26-24, 22-25, 15-13), to improve to 12-5 (4-4 Big Ten) on the season and earn its fourth five-set win of the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED
SET 1 (25-17) |
Fueled by consecutive kills from Cuttino and Cleveland, Purdue quickly jumped out to a 4-0 lead. Capitalizing on a trio of Buckeye miscues, the Boilermakers doubled up on Ohio State with a 12-6 advantage. Limiting the Buckeyes to a .057 hitting percentage, the Boilermakers cruised to a 25-17 opening set win.
SET 2 (23-25) | Much like the first set, Purdue opened with an early advantage with kills from Newton and Mohler. However, Ohio State used an 8-3 run late in the set to knot the score at 21. The Buckeyes clinched the frame on a Boilermaker attacking error and a pair of kills from Jenaisya Moore.

SET 3 (26-24) | Purdue and Ohio State went point-for-point, tying the frame through the first 24 points. Knotted at 12, Mohler broke the tie with four kills, pushing the Buckeyes to a timeout. Mohler cushioned Purdue's lead with two more kills, but three Boilermaker miscues trimmed the advantage to one (18-17). Trading small rallies, the teams tied the set three more times, before Purdue clinched the set on a Buckeye service error and a Newton kill.

SET 4 (22-25) | With Purdue leading 16-12, Ohio State delivered a 9-1 run to steal the lead at 21-18. Limiting the Boilermakers to a .075 hitting percentage, the Buckeyes collected the set on a kill from Gabby Gonzales.

SET 5 (15-13) | Tied at three, a trio of Buckeye miscues helped Purdue to a 6-4 edge. The teams exchanged the next six points, before a pair of kills from Ohio State's Gonzales knotted the set at 10. A Buckeye block gave Ohio State a slim edge at 12-11, but Purdue responded with a 4-1 run for a 15-13 Boilermaker victory.
