WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Big Ten Conference has announced that juniors Matt Haarms and Nojel Eastern will represent Purdue at the 2019 Big Ten Media Day held next week in Chicago.
The duo is part of 35 student-athletes, including 12 returning All-Big Ten selections from the 2018-19 season, to represent the league next week in front of national media. This will be Haarms' and Eastern's first appearance at Big Ten Media Day.
The pair, along with head coach Matt Painter, will take part in media day activities Oct. 2, running most of the day in Chicago.
Purdue's junior class of Haarms and Eastern owns an overall 56-17 record, reaching the 2018 Sweet 16 and the 2019 Elite Eight. The pair has helped Purdue to a 31-7 Big Ten record over the last two years and the Boilermakers' five NCAA Tournament wins are tied for the fifth most in the country over the last two years.
The Boilermakers went 26-10 overall and shared the Big Ten title with Michigan State a year ago with a 16-4 record. Purdue advanced to the Elite Eight and returns eight letterwinners off last year's squad.
Purdue opens the regular season Nov. 6, when it hosts Green Bay. The Boilermakers' lone home exhibition game will be Nov. 1, against Southern Indiana.
Mini-plan and single-game tickets will go on sale to the highest level of John Purdue Club donors on Sept. 27, and will be made available to the general public Oct. 15. Fans can visit PurdueSports.com or call 800.49SPORT for more information.
