WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team is set for the 2019 NCAA Championships, opening play Friday at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Boilermakers are making their 18th appearance at the national tournament and fourth in the last five seasons after a fourth-place showing at the NCAA Norman Regional.
The Boilermakers will be paired with San Jose State and Mississippi for the first 36 holes, teeing off at 9:21 a.m. ET on the 10th hole in Round 1, and hitting the course at 2:01 p.m. on the first hole in the second round. The top-15 teams and top-12 individuals after 54 holes advance to a fourth and final round of stroke play, which will determine the NCAA individual champion and the top-eight teams to compete in match play for the national title.
The 24 national qualifiers include 14 of the top-15 ranked teams in the nation and three other Big Ten squads. The Boilermakers have wins over eight teams in the field, including East Lansing Regional champion Kent State, and both of their partners for the first 36 holes.
Purdue's fourth-place effort at the Norman Regional came on the strength of standout individual performances by junior Micaela Farah and senior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri. Farah tied for fifth place, shooting two-under 70 in the opening round, firing a three-under 69 in the second round and finishing three-under par, 213 for the tournament. Putri posted scores at or under par in all three rounds in Norman, posting back-to-back 71's before finishing even par in the final round.
Farah and Putri are the only two Boilermakers with NCAA Championship experience, playing in the 2017 tournament at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois. Putri was Purdue's No. 2 finisher, counting a team score in all three rounds, while Farah had the squad's No. 4 score and logged a team score in two-of-three rounds.

The Blessings Golf Club is the home of the University of Arkansas men's and women's golf teams and will play 6,473 yards at par 73 for the national championships. The impeccably maintained course stretches to over 7,900 yards from the back tees and plays through two distinct landforms-the Clear Creek floodplain and a plateau that rises to 65 feet above the floodplain where it's bisected by a series of ravines. Both the outward and inward nines climb up and down between the two topographies, creating drama and variety on each hole. The course was originally designed by architect Robert Trent Jones, Jr. with a redesign recently completed by noted architect Kyle Phillips.

The Boilermakers have a rich tradition of success at the national championships, earning the team title in 2010, an individual crown in 2009 and three other top-three performances. The team finished second in 2007 and 2011, and third in 2013. Most recently Purdue saw August Kim cap off an outstanding career with a fourth-place effort in 2017 on her way to All-America honors.
