WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team opens NCAA postseason play Monday as the No. 8 seed at the Norman Regional, hosted by the University of Oklahoma at Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club. The Boilermakers are competing as a team in the regional tournament for the fifth straight season and the 22nd time in the last 23 years.
The Boilermakers are one-of-seven Big Ten teams to qualify for the regional tournaments and the only conference squad heading to Norman. The top six teams and top three individuals (not on a qualifying team) at each of the four regional sites will advance to the 2019 NCAA Championships, scheduled for May 17-22 at The Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Purdue is coming off a second-place finish at the Big Ten Championships, where the Boilermakers shot two-over par over 36 holes led by co-individual medalist Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri. The Purdue senior became the ninth Big Ten Champion in program history, shooting a career-best, five-under 67 in the final round and finished at six-under par, 138. The Boilermakers matched Illinois and Indiana on the team leaderboard, all finishing three shots behind conference champion Ohio State.
The Boilermakers have already gone head-to-head with 10 of the 18 teams in the Norman Regional, with wins over seven teams, including No. 6 seed TCU. Purdue boasts six top-six tournament finishes this season, including four this spring and the Illini Women's Invitational team title in the fall. The team has combined to post 50 individual rounds of par or better on the season, in addition to six of the top-20 team rounds in program history.

THE COURSE
The Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club serves as the Sooners' home course and will play at par 72 and 6,407 yards for the regional. Opened in 1951 on the grounds of a former U.S. Navy recreational facility and designed by Perry Maxwell, the course underwent an extensive renovation in 1996 behind the contributions of Austin, and again in 2017 under the direction of Tripp Davis. The course has played host to the 1997 Oklahoma State Amateur and NCAA Regional, the Big 12 Women's Championship in 1998 and 2010, and most notably the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship in 2009. It also hosted the 2013 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and NCAA Regional Championships in 2012 (men's) and 2013 (women's).

During that run Purdue has moved on to the NCAA Championships 17 times, including 14 in a row from 2000-to-2013, and the NCAA West Regional title in 2006. The Boilermakers have shot under par as a team twice in the regional tournament, shooting four-under, 860 over 54 holes in 2006, and two-under 862 in 2007, and posted a top single-round score of five-under 283 in South Bend, Indiana in 2015. Purdue's 54-hole individual record was set at an NCAA Regional as Paula Reto shot a 10-under 206 in 2013, and her final-round, six-under 66 is the Boilermakers' best-ever for 18 holes.
