Round One Pairings
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue women's golf team resumes the spring season Monday, playing the first of two spring break tournaments at the University of Arizona's Wildcat Invitational. The Boilermakers have made the trip to Tucson's Sewailo Golf Course in two of the last three seasons, posting a top-five finish in 2016 and 2018.
The Boilermakers aim to continue their recent success as they head west, coming off a second-place effort at Houston's Icon Invitational. Purdue shot 11-over par, 875, behind top-10 performances from senior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri and sophomore Inez Wanamarta, besting three top-25 programs including No. 9 Kent State. Junior Micaela Farah was just shy of three Boilermakers in the top-10, tying for 11th at three-over par.
Putri, Wanamarta and Farah are all set to make the trip to Arizona, with the lineup rounded out by sophomore Lauren Guiao and freshmen Danielle du Toit and RuQing Guan. Guan is making her first appearance of the spring after playing a pair of events during the fall season.

Micaela Farah, Junior: Tied with Putri for the Boilermakers' low score average at 73.11 strokes per round … has played 10-of-18 rounds at par or better this season, including a career-low 67 at the Illini Women's Invitational … posted a career-low 54-hole score of seven-under 209 at the UCF Challenge … finished in the top-20 of 4-of-6 tournaments in 2018-19, and was Purdue's top individual twice … made a team-most 219 pars on the season … has counted a team score in 15.5-of-18 rounds (.861) in 2018-19.
Inez Wanamarta, Sophomore: Fresh off her top individual effort of 2018-19, tying for sixth at the Icon Invitational with a score of even-par 216 … closed the tournament in Houston with a season-low, four-under 68, sinking five birdies over the final 18 holes … averaging 73.75 strokes over 12 rounds this season, putting her career average at 73.36 … has the team-low score in 4-of-12 rounds in 2018-19 … has counted a team score in 92.7 percent of her career rounds at Purdue.
RuQing Guan, Freshman: Playing her first event of the spring after competing in all three varsity tournaments in the fall … averaging 75.22 strokes over nine rounds, including two score under par … turned in her top finish at the Illini Women's Invitational, shooting three-under 213 and tying for 13th place … counted a team score in 8-of-9 rounds on the season.
Lauren Guiao, Sophomore: Will play as an individual in her third tournament of the spring after playing in the lineup twice in the fall … posted her top individual score of 2018-19 at the UCF Challenge, finishing six-over par, 222, at Eagle Creek Golf Club … shot a career-low score of one-under 71 on the final 18 holes at UCF, 1-of-2 rounds on the year at par or better.
THE COURSE
Sewailo Golf Club is scheduled to play par-72 at 6,519 yards this week, marking one of the longest courses on the Boilermakers' 2018-19 schedule. Three of the four par 5's will play over 540 yards. Purdue took advantage of the long par 5's in 2018, playing eight-under for the fourth-best average in last year's field. Designed by Notah Begay III, Sewailo is a rolling natural desert terrain, featuring arroyos and streams with elevation changes, and natural hazards coming into play.

ARIZONA WILDCAT INVITATIONAL HISTORY
Purdue has ventured west in two of the last three seasons to play at Sewailo Golf Course and Arizona's annual tournament tying for fifth place in both 2016 and 2018. The Boilermakers shot 20-over 884 in 2016, paced by a 10th-place effort from August Kim, and topped a pair of top-25 squads in Colorado and New Mexico. In 2018, Purdue shot 22-over 886 and had four individuals place between 22nd and 30th in the individual standings. Farah had the top individual round of the tournament, shooting one-under 71 over the final 18 holes.
