WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The 25th-ranked Purdue women's golf team kicks off the spring season Sunday, heading to Orlando, Florida for the 13th-annual UCF Challenge at Eagle Creek Golf Club. The Boilermakers will open the spring somewhere other than the Lady Puerto Rico Classic for the first time since 2003, set to warm-up against a solid 16-team field.

The Boilermakers are set to field six players in the three-day tournament, led by senior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri, junior Micaela Farah and sophomore Inez Wanamarta. Freshman Danielle du Toit aims to pick up where she left off in an impressive fall, and senior Covadonga SanJuan is scheduled to make her season debut. Sophomore Lauren Guiao will compete in the field as an individual.

This is the Boilermakers' first-ever trip to UCF's annual event, and their first tournament in Florida since 2016, when Purdue took sixth at the Hurricane Invitational at The Biltmore Golf Course in Coral Gables. The 2019 UCF Challenge features a trio of top-20 teams in third-ranked Vanderbilt, No. 9 Kent State and No. 14 Illinois, and two top individuals in Vanderbilt's No. 3 Abbey Carlson and Kent State's No. 25 Michaela Finn.
