WILMINGTON, N.C. -
Due to inclement weather, the opening round of the Landfall Tradition at the Country Club of Landfall has been suspended, and will resume Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The Purdue women's golf team is currently tied for eighth place at 15-over par, led by sophomore Inez Wanamarta who is tied for fourth place at even par.

The rain took its toll on the Boilermakers late in the round as they had climbed as high as fourth place at eight-over par, but struggled on No. 2, No.3 and No. 4. The middle of the pack remains tight as five strokes separate third from ninth place. No. 14 Wake Forest holds the team lead at four-over par, while fifth-ranked Duke is second at seven over.

After making bogey on her first two holes of the day, Wanamarta rallied with birdies on No. 13, No. 15 and No. 1, and has three holes left to finish her first round. Freshman Danielle du Toit is close behind at two-over par, making par on 13-of-16 holes Friday, while senior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri is six-over par and made birdie on her final hole of the day. Junior Micaela Farah and freshman RuQing Guan are currently tied for the final team score at seven over.

Only three individuals in the field are under par heading into Saturday, led by Maryland's Virunpat Olankitkunchai at three-under par. Wanamarta is one-of-five players tied for fourth at par.

The second round of play will begin immediately after the opening round concludes Saturday and will feature the same pairings as Friday, keeping Purdue alongside Duke and Oklahoma State.
