WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Purdue men's golf team looks to rebound from a slow start this weekend at the Intercollegiate at the Grove hosted by Middle Tennessee State.   
 
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will be contested held Sunday through Tuesday at the Grove Club in College Grove, Tennessee.
 
Purdue will bring six players (five counting and one individual) to the event, in hopes of turning around its fall season after a tough start. Seniors Timmy Hildebrand and Jarle Volden and sophomores Cole Bradley and Joe Weiler will be on the counting team. The fifth spot is up for grabs between junior Thomas Lewis and sophomore Jason Hong.
 
The field features four teams ranked in the nation's top 50 according to Golfweek, and six more ranked in the top 100.

PURDUE LINEUP
  • Timmy Hildebrand, Senior: Has had an outstanding start to the season, placing in the top 11 in all three events, including two sixth-place showings …  became the seventh player in school history with two 66s (or better) in the same season – he has played nine rounds … owns a 70.56 stroke average and has four rounds in the 60s already .. ranks fourth on the Purdue career stroke average list (73.36) … over the last three years since the start of his sophomore season, his stroke average is 72.99.
  • Jarle Volden, Senior: Saw first action of the season at the Fighting Illini Invitational, missing the Gopher Invite to play in the World Amateur Team Championships … finished T-53rd at Olympia Fields last weekend … posted a 71.95 stroke average last spring, knocking almost four strokes off his 18-hole stroke average … won the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate in record-breaking fashion last April, posting a tournament-record 204 (70-68-66).
  • Cole Bradley, Sophomore: Bradley had his best tournament of the young season the last time out, finishing T-24th at the Windon Memorial Classic … it marked his fourth career top-25 finish … had a strong summer, winning the Indiana Amateur Championship and placing 11th at the Indiana Open … his stroke average a year ago was the seventh-best average by a freshman in school history … two of his three rounds at the Gopher Invitational were even par, marking his ninth and 10th career rounds of even par or better.
  • Joe Weiler, Sophomore: Has posted the second-best score in two of three tournaments so far this year (T-38th at Gopher Invite; T-49th at Fighting Illini Invite; T-49th at the Windon Memorial Classic) … Weiler appeared in nine events last year, averaging 74.58 strokes per round, good for 11th on the all-time Purdue freshman list … posted eight rounds of even-par or better while recording four top-35 finishes … led the team at the prestigious Tavistock Invitational a year ago with a 31st-place showing.
  • Thomas Lewis, Junior: Placed T-70th at the Fighting Illini Invite after finishing T-49th at the Gopher Invitational … was on the counting team in all three rounds at the Gopher Invite … posted his fourth round of even-par or better (in 35 career rounds) in the first round in Minnesota … finished T-8th at the Crooked Stick Invitational last year (Even; 69-74-73=216) … was 19th at the Boilermaker Invitational as a freshman and competed in the NCAA Championships at Rich Harvest Farms in 2017.
  • Jason Hong, Sophomore: Competed as an individual at the Pioneer Creek Collegiate, placing T-66th … owned a 74.11 stroke average, the sixth-best average by a freshman in school history … recorded 12 rounds of even-par or better and posted two top-10 and four top-20 finishes … named Big Ten Golfer of the Week after placing sixth at the elite Puerto Rico Classic … finished a team-best 23rd at the NCAA Kissimmee Regional (73-70-70=213).
 
THE COURSE
The Grove is a Greg Norman Signature Design course that is considered one of the finest courses in Tennessee. The course, which plays 7,368 yards and par 72, has hosted Web.com events, an NCAA Regional Championships and a USGA Senior Amateur qualifier.

HISTORY AT THE GROVE
Just the fifth year of the event, this will mark Purdue's first visit to the Intercollegiate at the Grove. Past team champions include Ohio State (2014), Kentucky (2015), Ole Miss (2016) and Georgia Tech (2017).
