WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
The Purdue women's golf team opens the 2018-19 season Monday, heading to the Chicagoland area for the 2018 Windy City Collegiate Classic. Northwestern's annual event is set for Westmoreland Country Club in Wilmette, Illinois, and features an entire field of teams either ranked or receiving votes in the Women's Golf Coaches Association preseason poll.
 
The two-day, 54-hole tournament is set for Monday and Tuesday on the 6,360-yard, par-72 layout in suburban Chicago.
 
Senior Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri and junior Micaela Farah lead the Boilermakers into the opening tournament and will be bolstered by sophomore Lauren Guiao. Rookies Danielle du Toit and RuQing Guan are set to make their inaugural appearance for the Old Gold and Black
 
The loaded field includes five of the top-10 teams in the country and nine of the top 25, including 11th-ranked tournament host Northwestern. The Boilermakers are one of five teams entering the tournament receiving votes.

PURDUE LINEUP
  • Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri, Junior: Looking to build off a solid junior campaign, Putri has had an impressive start to the season and aims to break out this fall … averaged a career-best 73.6 strokes per round in 2017-18, including a team-low 12 rounds of par or better … made a team-low 94 birdies last season … posted Purdue's best score at last season's Windy City Collegiate Classic, tying for 12th place at three-over par, 216, at Northmoor Golf Club.
  • Micaela Farah, Junior: A two-time all-conference honoree, Farah turned in a trio of top-10 performances in her sophomore season and was in the top 20, individually, in six of the team's 12 tournaments … she was third on the team with 74 birdies and had eight rounds of par or better.
  • Lauren Guiao, Sophomore: Guiao appeared in eight events as a freshman, including a quartet of varsity events … tied for fourth at the Dayton Fall Invitational … played in the Big Ten Championships as a freshman.
  • Danielle du Toit, Freshman: The Boilermakers' first South African player since Paula Reto graduated in 2013 … advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2018 South African Women's Amateur Match Play Championship … won the WGSA 72-Hole Individual Championship and the 2018 Western Province Women's Amateur Championship.
  • RuQing Guan, Freshman: Believed to be the first-ever Chinese player to suit up for the Boilermakers, Guan brings an impressive resume into her collegiate career … a 2016 First Team Rolex Junior All-American … won four consecutive AJGA events in 2016, and is a three-time China Amateur Golf Tour champion.
 
THE COURSE
Westmoreland Country Club will play host to the Windy City Collegiate for the first time since 2015, hosting on a par-72, 6,360-yard course Monday and Tuesday. Founded in 1911, it has played host to the Western Open, the Western Amateur and both the Chicago District Golf Association's Women's Championship and USGA Women's Amateur Championship. The original 1912 course design by William Watson has undergone several renovations, most recently by Arthur Hills in 1993.

WINDY CITY COLLEGIATE CLASSIC HISTORY
Purdue has played in nine of the 10 Windy City Collegiate Classics, including a seventh-place effort in last year's loaded field that featured four of the top-10 teams in the nation. The Boilermakers won the first three Windy City tournaments (2008-10), led by individual champions Numa Gulyanamitta (2008 and 2010) and Maude-Aimee LeBlanc (2009).
