Two freshmen and a sophomore scored to lead the Boilermakers over Eastern Michigan.

West Lafayette, Ind. – In what was expected to be a rainy evening, the sun and Boilermakers shined on Folk Field during the season opening game for the Purdue women's soccer team. The Boilermakers shut out Eastern Michigan 3-0 on its way to starting the season with a 1-0 record.

Purdue freshmen Skylurr Patrick, Teagan Jones and sophomore Sarah Clark each netted a goal.

With the victory, Purdue moves to 15-6-1 (.681) during season openers. Meanwhile, head coach Drew Roff retains an unblemished 4-0 record.

Patrick notched one of Purdue's fastest goals in program history when the game-winning goal crossed the line just 39 seconds into competition. Fellow newcomer Mia Roth assisted the goal, which landed in the far upper right corner of the net.

Jones slotted Purdue's second goal to the lower right corner during the 57th minute. The goal was set up after freshman Aly Mielke took the ball down the field and fired a shot, which was then deflected by a diving EMU goalkeeper. Jones was making the run towards the net when she saw the rebound opportunity and adjusted her route to slot the ball past the goalkeeper.

The final goal of the match came in a dramatic fashion. Freshman Sydney Duarte drew a penalty in the Eastern Michigan box. Sophomore midfielder Sarah Clark took the kick, placing the ball in the net with ease.

Katie Luce and Julia Ware led the team with a full 90 minutes on the field.

Jones led with a game-high five shots and tied Mielke with a game-high two shots on goal.
