WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue wrestling returns to Holloway Gymnasium for a double-dual Sunday. The 24th-ranked Boilermakers square off against Princeton at 11 a.m. ET and then open their Big Ten Conference slate against No. 8 Michigan at 1 p.m. The Wolverines will then face off against the Tigers.
Purdue (4-1, 0-0 B1G) shifts to dual competition coming out of a stellar outing at the 55th Ken Kraft Midlands Championships. Seven grapplers placed, three of whom were unseeded, and the Boilermakers placed seventh as a team with a program-high 84 points. The seven placewinners are most ever, crushing the previous high of four from 2008, 2006 and 1990.
Like the Boilermakers, Princeton (0-3, 0-0 EIWA) had a record-setting performance at Midlands. Four Tigers placed as they finished eighth overall with a program-record 73 points. Fifth-seeded Jonathan Schleifer was the 165-pound runner-up; Matthew Kolodzik, who was seeded third at 149, placed sixth; 11th-seeded Mike D'Angelo finished fourth at 157; and Patrick Brucki, the No. 11 seed at 197, placed fifth.
U-M completes its swing through Indiana on Sunday. The eighth-ranked Wolverines demolished Indiana 43-0 in their conference opener on Friday in Bloomington. Bonus points were earned at seven weights as they pushed their overall season record to 3-1. The shutout was Michigan's second in a row and its first against a conference opponent since 1974.
