Three duals are on deck for the Purdue wrestling team at the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals on Saturday. The Boilermakers will go back-to-back, taking on NCAA Division II LIU Post at 9:30 a.m. ET, followed immediately with a clash against No. 22 North Carolina at 11:30 a.m. They'll close out with a 3:30 p.m. matchup with Hofstra.

The 15th annual tournament will take place at Shenendehowa High School East in Clifton Park, New York. Eleven NCAA Division I programs, along with two Division II programs, LIU Post and Castleton, and Division III Ithaca College, are taking part in the Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals. The Division I field includes No. 3 Oklahoma State, No. 8 NC State, No. 12 Rutgers, No. 19 Oklahoma, No. 22 North Carolina, Kent State, Scared Heart and Virginia.

It will be a Saturday of many firsts for Purdue. Not only is it the first dual action of the season, but the first dual for many of the Boilermakers. The probable lineup features one true freshman, three redshirt freshmen and one redshirt junior transfer. Six lineup mainstays from 2016-17 return in 2017-18, however five of those wrestlers are at a new weight class.

For the first time since February 2016, Purdue's lineup boasts a pair of nationally ranked wrestlers. Coming off his Michigan State Open title, Luke Welch jumped into the 125-pound InterMat rankings at No. 16 on Tuesday. The ranking is the first of his career. At 197 pounds, Christian Brunner held down the No. 18 spot for a second consecutive poll.

LIU Post becomes the 151st all-time opponent in Purdue wrestling history, as the two teams will meet for the first time. The Boilermakers have faced North Carolina and Hofstra three times each and lead both series. They topped the Tar Heels 19-12 on a neutral mat in Marietta, Georgia, on Dec. 13, 2014, to take a 2-1 edge in the series. It has been five years since Purdue has wrestled Hofstra, defeating the Pride 32-8 at the 2012 Journeymen/ASICS Northeast Duals.
