SUGAR GROVE, Ill. - Purdue senior August Kim completed a brilliant collegiate career Monday, shooting two-over par, 74, for the day, finishing 3-over par, 219, for the tournament and tying for fourth place at the NCAA Championships, hosted at Rich Harvest Farms. The Boilermakers finished 11th overall, falling just six stroke shy of advancing to match play as the shot 16-over, 306, Monday and finished 61-over for the championship.
Kim battled back and forth with the difficult course all day, trading a bogey and a birdie on No. 10 and No. 12, and swapping a double bogey and an eagle, her second of the tournament, on No. 17 and No. 18. She dropped a birdie on No. 2 after making the turn at even-par, moving to one-under for the round, but gave two back on No. 4 and another on her final hole of the day to finish at two-over, 74.
Sophomore Covadonga SanJuan turned in a second-straight round of four-over, 76, for the No. 2 team score, and classmate Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri was right behind her at five-over, 77. Junior Marta Martin matched Putri at 77, dropping a birdie on the final hole of the round.
