Day Two Results

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Purdue women's golf team moved up one spot in the team standings Friday at the NCAA Shoal Creek Regional, shooting 31-over par, 319, to move to 56-over for the tournament. Conditions continued to prove difficult for the entire field in Alabama as only three teams managed to shoot under 300, and the Boilermakers remain 18 shots back from the sixth and final NCAA qualifying spot.

Birdies proved elusive for the Old Gold and Black on Friday, as junior August Kim was the only Boilermaker to score more than one hole under par for the afternoon. Kim managed birdies on a pair of par-five holes and turned in the top score for Purdue for the second straight day at five-over, 77. Sophomore Marta Martin was right behind her at six-over, 78, and senior Anna Appert Lund and sophomore Linn Andersson accounted for the last two team scores at nine-over, 81, and 11-over, 83, respectively.

Kim is tied for 15th place in the individual standings at seven-over par, 151, sitting two shots back from the third individual qualifying spot to the NCAA Championships. Northwestern continues to lead the team standings at 14-over, 590, holding a six-shot lead on Florida State. Florida State's Matilda Castren and Northwestern's Kacie Komoto share the individual lead at one-over, 145.

The third and final day of competition resumes tomorrow at 7:30 a.m. CT.
