TUCSON, Ariz. - The Purdue women's golf team surged in the final day of the MountainView Collegiate, firing an outstanding team score of two-under, 286, to climb to third place in the final team standings at the MountainView Golf Club. Freshman Covadonga SanJuan had the best round of her young college career, shooting three-under, 69, to tie for fifth place individually, while senior Anna Appert Lund shot two-under, 70, to give the Boilermakers a second top-10 finisher in a tie for ninth.

The Boilermakers started the day in sixth place after a round of 12-over, 300, to close Friday's action, but wasted no time going low with five birdies over their first six holes. SanJuan carved up the back-nine, posting four birdies and five pars, while the rest of the squad had just six collective holes over par. Sophomore Linn Andersson finished one-over, 73, for the afternoon, while classmate Marta Martin rebounded from a tough day Friday to shoot two-over, 74. Junior August Kim tied for 13th individually in the tournament, but the Boilermakers didn't need her round of three-over, 75, Saturday. Kim snapped a streak of five straight rounds as the team leader, despite the solid effort.

Georgia held on to its sizable lead to take the team title, finishing five-under, 859, for the tournament, while Iowa State was second at two-over, 866. Georgia's Jillian Hollis played even-par, 72, Saturday to take home the medalist honors with a tournament score of 11-under, 205.

The Boilermakers return to action Friday, April 1, at the Liz Murphy Collegiate Classic. The event will be Purdue's first match-play competition of the season.
