INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - The Purdue women's golf team braved a day full of rain and a late-round delay to turn in an impressive second round at the 2015 Big Ten Championships, held at The Fort Golf Course on Saturday. The Boilermakers were the only team in the field to finish under-par, besting the next-best squad by seven strokes with a three-under, 285, and climbing to second place in the team race.

Heading into the day tied for fourth place, junior Anna Appert Lund and seniors Aurora Kan and Johanna Tillström led the Boilermakers' day-two efforts, all finishing under-par. After a very tough first round and a slow start to the second day, Appert Lund got hot on Saturday, sinking six birdies. She was two-over after the first four holes, but bounced back with birdies on No. 5 and No. 7, and then shot three-under on the back-nine, where she was eight-over on Friday. Her three-under score of 69 on Saturday vaulted her up to a tie for 19th, individually, and was the second-best individual score of the day behind Maryland's Juliet Vongphoumy, who fired a four-under, 68.

Kan played nearly perfect on Saturday, making 14 pars, three birdies and just one bogey on her way to a two-under round of 70. She was flawless on the front-nine, making par on every hole, save her birdie on the par-three third hole, and had her only flaw on No. 15 between birdies on No. 13 and No. 16. Tillström sank five birdies in her second-round score of one-under, 71, playing the front-nine even-par and shooting one-under on the back-nine. Kan is the highest Boilermaker in the individual standings, sitting tied for fifth, while Tillström is tied for ninth.

Sophomore August Kim and freshmen Marta Martin and Linn Andersson tied for the final team score of the day at three-over, 75. Martin remains at even-par for the tournament and is tied for seventh place, individually.

At 293-285=578, the Boilermakers trail Ohio State for the team lead by five strokes as the Buckeyes sit three-under, 281-292=573, for the tournament. Northwestern is one-stroke behind Purdue, while Michigan State is fourth, seven shots behind the Boilermakers. Vongphoumy is tied with Ohio State's Jan Chanpalangsri for the individual lead at three-under, 141, while two players are one shot back at two-under, 142, and Kan and Martin are two and three shots back, respectively, at one-under and even.

Play concludes tomorrow with the final round starting at 8:48 a.m. (ET) for the Boilermakers. For tee times, pairings and third-round live scoring, visit GolfStat.com.
