CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Purdue women's golf team climbed to eighth place on Tuesday at the Hurricane Invitational, hosted by the University of Miami at the Biltmore Golf Course. The Boilermakers tied for the fifth-best team score of the day, shooting a nine-over, 293, and sit 22-over par, 590, for the tournament, sharing the No. 8 spot with Campbell after two days of competition.

Junior Anna Appert Lund made major moves up the leaderboard on Tuesday, shooting a career-best four-under, 67, to move to even-par, 142, for the tournament, and sits tied for fourth place on the individual leaderboard. Appert Lund went back-and-forth on the front nine, earning birdies on the first, fourth and sixth holes, but making bogies on No. 3 and No. 7 to finish the front-nine at one-under for the day. The Boilermaker junior scorched the back-nine, making par on the first five holes and sinking birdies on three of the last four to card the best individual round of the day and remain just three shots off the lead going into the final round.

Freshman Marta Martin recorded her team-best ninth straight scored round, finishing just two-over par, 73, with four birdies for the day, while senior Aurora Kan was just three-over par, 74, for the day. Sophomore August Kim struggled after her solid opening-round performance, shooting eight-over, 79, but finished the day on a high note with an eagle on No. 18, marking the second straight day a Boilermaker shot two-under on the final hole. Freshman Linn Andersson came in at 11-over, 82, but showed signs of improvement on the back-nine, shooting just three-over on the way home.

Northwestern widened its lead on Tuesday, shooting two-under, 282, for the day and owning a 13-stroke lead at six-under, 562, for the tournament. Miami is in second place at seven-over, 575, and Iowa State is third at 10-over, 578. Northwestern's Hannah Kim shot under-par for the second straight day, holding the individual lead at three-under, 139, after Tuesday's one-under, 70. Wildcat teammate Hana Lee and South Florida's Ashley Burke are tied for second place at one-under, 141, while five individuals are tied for fourth at even-par, 142.
