Day One Results Get Acrobat Reader

TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior Anna Appert Lund shot a career-best round in her second consecutive tournament, firing a six-under, 66, to lead the Purdue women's golf team at the opening day of the MountainView Collegiate, hosted by the University of Missouri and Kansas State University at the MountainView Golf Club on Friday. The Boilermakers finished the first day in fourth place at one-under, 575, sitting five shots off the lead with 18 more holes to play on Saturday.

The Boilermakers opened the day with a four-over, 292, led by an even-par round of 72 from Appert Lund and one-over, 73, scores from senior Aurora Kan and freshman Marta Martin. Sophomore August Kim tied the round together with a two-over, 74, taking Purdue back to the clubhouse tied for eighth-place.

Purdue came out swinging in the second round, firing the lowest team score of the second round and matching the 12-best team round in school history at five-under, 283. Appert Lund's 66 matched the fourth-lowest round in Purdue history, and she became the first to hit the number since Paula Reto shot it at the NCAA West Regional in 2013. Kan and Martin joined her under par with scores of two-under, 70, and one-under, 71, respectively, while Kim and senior Johanna Tillström tied for the final team score at four-over, 76.

Florida International owns the team lead at six-under, 570, while Ohio State and Texas State are one shot back at five-under, 571. Texas State had the low team round of the day, opening with a nine-under, 279, with all four scorers finishing under par. Iowa State's Chonlada Chayanun has the individual tournament lead, sitting seven-under, 137, while Appert Lund and Meghan MacLaren and Katerina Krasova of Florida International are tied for second, one shot back. Kan and Martin are both in the top-20 individually, as Kan is tied for 14th at one-under, 143, while Martin is tied for 20th at even par.
