CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The Purdue women's golf team opened the Miami Hurricane Invitational on Monday with a round of 13-over par, 297, at the Biltmore Golf Course. The Boilermakers are tied with Penn State for ninth place, led by sophomore August Kim's round of even-par, 71, just six strokes from a place in the top-five of the team standings.

The Boilermakers got off to a rough start on Monday, adding seven extra strokes to the team score over the first three holes, save Kim's even-par score. Kim stumbled on the fifth hole with a double-bogey, but quickly recovered with birdies on No. 7 and No. 9. The Boilermaker sophomore had two birdies and two bogies on the back-nine, including a one-under score on the 18th and final hole, to finish tied for 12th in the individual standings.

Purdue rallied late in the day, shooting a collective five-under par over the final three holes of the round to move themselves up the team leaderboard. Senior Aurora Kan birdied No. 17 and No. 18, while freshman Marta Martin carded an eagle on the par-five, 18th hole. Kan and junior Anna Appert Lund both finished four-over, 75, while Martin had the final team score of the day at five-over, 76.

Northwestern owns the team lead at four-under, 280, while Louisville is second at one-under, 283, and Iowa State is third at two-over, 286. Wildcats Kaitlin Park and Hana Lee share the individual lead at three-under, 68, while teammate Hannah Kim is one of three players tied for third at two-under, 69.
