BATON ROUGE, La. - No. 39 LSU proved to be too much for the 49th-ranked Purdue men's tennis team as the Boilermakers suffered a 7-0 setback Saturday at Dub Robinson Stadium. Their record slipped to 2-3 on the young season, while the Tigers improved to 4-1.

The doubles point was decided at Nos. 1 and 2. Playing side-by-side for the first time this season, juniors Arthur Dobradin and Mateus Silva were denied by LSU's Boris Arias and Jordan Daigle, 6-0.The point was secured by the 52nd-ranked Tiger duo of Tam Trinh and Eric Pere as they handed Purdue's No. 1 doubles team of Diego Acosta and Ricky Medinilla their first loss of the season, 6-4.

As play shifted to singles, the Boilermakers were only able to take two of the 14 sets played. Silva stole a 7-5 second set from Trinh, who is ranked 67th, while playing in the No. 3 spot. The match was decided in the third set for the Tiger, winning 6-3, 5-7, 7-6.
