FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - The Boilermakers opened the Razorback Invitational on Friday. Purdue had a strong day that included several personal records, including a handful that ranked among the top 10 in school history.
Brionna Thomas had a career day in the 200-meter dash. The freshman ran a PR in the event with a time of 24.11 seconds. That time is better than her previous best by 0.28 of a second and ranks second in Purdue school history. Symone Black also had a huge PR in the event. The freshman ran a time of 24.58 seconds, a PR by 0.60 of a second. Her time ranks seventh in school history and she is among five different individuals on the current team to rank among the top 10 in school history. Savannah Roberson missed the top 10 by 0.03 of a second. She ran a PR in the 200m with a time of 24.86 seconds.
Devynne Charlton continued her strong season on Friday. Charlton won the 60m hurdles prelims with a time of 8.40 seconds. She advances to Saturday's finals. Jessica Harter had an indoor PR in the pole vault. Harter took sixth in the event after clearing 3.90m (12-9.50). That clearance was a PR by two inches.
The women's throwers had a strong day in the weight throw. Micaela Hazelwood had a huge PR with a throw of 17.78m (58-4.00), a personal best by nearly two feet. She finished third in the event. Elizabeth Iversen also had a PR in the women's weight. Iversen, a freshman, threw 17.69m (58-0.50), a PR of more than six inches. Kayla Zink finished fifth in the event with a mark of 17.56m (57-7.50).
On the men's side Obokhare Ikpefan ran a PR in the 200m dash. Ikpefan, a sophomore, finished with a time of 21.62 seconds, a personal best by 0.09 of a second. His time is just outside the top 10 in school history. Byron Ferrell had a season-best in the pole vault and finished fifth overall. He cleared 5.05m (16-6.75).
Anaquan Peterson had a huge PR in the men's long jump. He leapt 7.47m (24-6.25) to take to take fourth. His mark ranks just outside the top 10 in school history. Chukwuebuka Enekwechi won the men's weight throw with a solid performance. He threw 23.74m (77-10.75) to win by more than 15 feet.
Moussa Conde competed in his first heptathlon as a Boilermaker. He took second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.05 seconds to earn 865 points. He finished fourth in the high jump after clearing 1.88m (6-2.00) to earn 696 points. In the long jump, Conde earned 661 points after jumping 6.34m (20-9.75). He picked up 477 points in the shot put with a best of 9.86m (32-4.25). He is currently in sixth place with 2699 points.
