CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Boilermaker softball team won their second game of the day on Sunday, posting a 5-0 win over Green Bay to close out the Michelle Smith Spring Break Tournament. Sophomore Lilly Fecho struck out nine batters in the win, while seven Boilers combined for eight hits in the game.

Fecho moved to 9-8 on the season with the complete-game victory, which included 15 straight outs after a leadoff single in the second. Heather Sanderson struck out two in the complete-game effort for the Phoenix.

Purdue scored its five runs on eight hits, including two by senior Danielle Fletcher.

Seniors Andie Varsho and Tori Chiodo combined doubles for a first inning score.

Green Bay got a leadoff single in the second inning, but Fecho sat down the next two batters and Fletcher caught the base runner stealing to end the inning.

Fletcher had a fourth-inning single, but was left stranded. The Boilermakers would not be denied, however, in the fifth as senior Maia Monchek sent a one-out single up the left field line and pinch hitter Katy McJunkin drove her home with a single.

Purdue tacked on three more runs on three hits in the sixth. Chiodo walked and Fletcher singled to set the table for junior Ashley Burkhardt's RBI double down the right field line. Sophomore CJ Parsons sent a single into left center bringing in Burkhardt and pinch runner Lexi Valone to make it 5-0.

Green Bay threatened putting two aboard with singles in the seventh, but Fecho erased the threat and finished the game with a strikeout.

The Boilermakers (12-16-1) return to action at 1 p.m. Tuesday vs. UCF in Orlando.
