WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue track and field and cross country teams finalized an impressive recruiting class that will be on campus in the fall. The group includes 29 individuals and accomplishments that range from All-American, state champions, and top five recruits nationally.

The incoming class of 2012 features a wide range of athletic talent for cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field. The men's distance group is bringing in a 2011 Footlocker Cross Country All-American, an award that is equivalent to the McDonald's All-Americans for high school basketball. Matt McClintock earned that award as well as eight state championships in cross country and track and field. The men's throws group is bringing in a top 10 recruit nationally in three different events. Coy Blair is ranked as the country's second-best indoor shot putter, third-best in the outdoor shot put, and ninth-best in the weight throw.

Aside from McClintock and Blair, the group comprises numerous state champions and all-state selections. The Boilermaker coaching staff is very pleased and excited for the newcomers to arrive on campus in the fall. See below for a breakdown of the team's newcomers.

Men's Distance

Matt Boughton - Arizona State University

Boughton is transferring to Purdue after four years with the Sun Devils. Boughton is from Phoenix, Ariz., and ran a best 5,000-meter time of 14:20. He will enroll as a graduate student in the Krannert School of Management.

Johnnie Guy - North Harrison High School (Ind.)

Guy qualified for the 2012 track state finals and earned the bronze medal in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 9:03.85. The third place finisher also earned Guy an all-state performance. He also qualified for the state championships in cross country in 2011 and was an All-State performer.

Dillon Hinen - Fairfield High School (Ind.)

Hinen qualified for the state championships in the 800-meter run in 2010 and 2011. There, he was named All-State both seasons. Hinen has a personal best time of 1:53.34 in the event.

Caleb Kerr - Evansville North High School (Ind.)

Kerr qualified for the 2012 state championships in the 3,200-meter run. He finished fifth in the event with a time of 9:06.56 and was named an All-State performer. Kerr also is a LILY Scholarship award winner.

Harlow Ladd - Messalonskee High School (Maine)

Ladd is a four-time state champion in cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field. He has a personal best time of 9:16.40 in the 3,200-meter run.

Matt McClintock - Madison Area High School (Maine)

McClintock is a 2011 Footlocker Cross Country All-American, the first in Madison Area High School History. He is an eight-time state champion in cross country and indoor and outdoor track. McClintock is the 2012 New England Champion after running a 3,200-meter time of 9:06.24.

Neal Omar - Niles West High School (Ill.)

Omar qualified for the 2012 state championships in the 800-meter run. There, his performance earned him an All-State nomination. Omar has a personal best time of 1:52.53 in the event.

Rocky Pollock - Fishers High School (Ind.)

Pollock was a 2012 All-State performer in the 800-meter run. He has a personal best time of 1:55.11 in the event.

Tate Schienbein - Union Country High School (Ind.)

Schienbein was a cross country All-State performer in 2010 and 2011. He qualified for the track state championships in 2011 and finished fifth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 9:08.69. That performance also earned him an All-State nomination.

Women's Distance

Haley Goers - Hoffman Estates High School (Ill.)

Goers ran the 1,600-meter, 3,200-meter, and three mile runs. She has a best 1,600-meter time of 4:58.48. Goers also has personal bests of 10:48.51 and 17:04 in the 3,200-meter and three mile, respectively.

Katie Hoevet - Ann Arbor Pioneer High School (Mich.)

Hoevet runs the 800-meter and 1,600-meter runs. She has personal records of 2:15.0 and 4:55.70, respectively.

Shari Lund - York High School (Ill.)

Lund is a distance runner that typically ran the 1,600-meter. She had a personal best in the event of 5:06.61.

Laura Maibuecher - Prospect High School (Ill.)

Maibuecher ran the 800-meter, 1,600-meter, and the three mile in high school. Her best times were 2:15.2, 5:11.35, and 17:27, respectively.

Vanessa McLeod - Fr. John Redmond High School (Toronto, Ontario)

McLeod ran the 400-meter, 800-meter, and the 1.5-mile steeplechase while in high school. She had a best 400m time of 57.65 seconds. In the 800m, McLeod had a best time of 2:09.38. Her best 1.5-mile steeplechase time was 5:17.6.

Haley Worman - Hoffman Estates High School (Ill.)

Worman ran the 1,600-meter and the three mile in high school with teammate Goers. Worman had bests in the events of 5:11.63 and 17:31, respectively.

Throwers

Coy Blair - Logan High School (Ohio)

Blair was one of the top throws recruits in the nation across the board. He was an indoor and outdoor state champion in the shot put. Blair is ranked third in the nation in the outdoor shot put and second in the indoor shot put. In the weight throw, he is ranked ninth in the country. Blair has personal bests of 67'7" in the outdoor shot put and 165'9" in the discus. In the indoor events, his best marks are 67'3" in the shot put and 68'10" in the weight throw.

Caleb Fricke - Porta High School (Ill.)

Fricke was a four year letterwinner in track, football, and basketball. He is ranked as the nation's 10th best thrower coming into college. Fricke was the 2012 Illinois State Champion in the discus and has a personal best in the event of 195'0".

Jordan Roos - Celina High School (Texas)

Roos will be a part of the Purdue football team as well as the track and field program. He is ranked 11th in the nation in shot put and 52nd in the discus. Roos is a two-time 5A state champion in the shot put and discus.

Jumpers, Hurdlers, Sprinters

Vania Anane - El Paso, Texas

Anane competed in high school in the long jump and triple jump. She was named the All-City Girls Track Athlete of the Year in 2012 in El Paso, Texas. Anane placed fourth in the triple jump at the state championships in 2012 after winning the regional title. She has personal bests of 39'10" in the triple jump and 18'0" in the long jump.

Danny Anthrop - Lafayette Central Catholic High School (Ind.)

Anthrop will be a member of the Purdue football team in the fall before joining the track team. In high school, he was a local standout in both sports. Anthrop qualified for the state championships as a junior in the 100-meter dash after running a time of 10.6 seconds. While on campus for football camp, Anthrop was clocked as the fastest in the 40-yard dash. As a senior in high school, he was All-State in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes with times of 10.79 seconds and 21.73 seconds, respectively.

Cierra Brown - Dayton, Ohio

Brown competed in high school in the 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, long jump, and triple jump, though the triple jump is not an official event in the Ohio High School Athletic Association. She was a state champion in the 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles in 2012. She also had the top triple jump mark in the state. Brown has personal bests of 14.19 seconds in the 100m hurdles and 43.16 seconds in the 300m hurdles. She also has bests of 39'10.5" in the triple jump and 17'2" in the long jump.

Jessica Harter - Celebration High School (Fla.)

Harter competed in the pole vault throughout her high school career. She posted a personal best mark of 11'7".
