First Round Results // Tee Times
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Junior Kishi Sinha tied her career low with a two-under par 70 on Friday and is in first place at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga.
The Boilermakers (299) are tied for second place with the host team, Augusta State (299), just one stroke behind Texas-San Antonio who leads the tournament after opening with a 298.
Purdue's Laura Gonzalez-Escallon claimed second place by firing an even-par 72 in the opening round. Gonzalez-Escallon recorded a team-high six birdies to start play at the Forest Hills Golf Club, but also committed six bogeys. Sinha, meanwhile had four birdies and just two bogeys for her tournament-low round.
Junior Paula Reto recorded a 75 and is tied for 12th place. Reto helped Purdue to a team championship at the 2011 Lady Jaguar with a second place finish in the event.
The Purdue freshmen are tied for 64th and 69th. Aurora Kan fired an 82 to tie for 64th and Kendall Dusenberry carded an 83 and it tied for 69th.
Freshman Vicky Scherer recorded a 76 competing as an individual and is tied for 19th place.
Tournament officials cleared the course at Forest Hills Golf Club at approximately 3:20 p.m., due to lightning in the area. The first round resumed at 4:22 p.m., Friday afternoon after a weather delay of just over an hour.
The Forest Hills Golf Club is set up as a par-72, 6,248-yard venue for the three-day, 54-hole event. Teams will tee off beginning at 9:30 a.m. ET on Saturday and live scoring is available at Golfstat.com. Daily recaps will be posted to purduesports.com.
