WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The seventh-ranked Purdue women's golf team is in second place after two rounds at the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate in Augusta, Ga., two strokes behind the host and first-place team, Augusta State.
The Boilermakers opened with a 290 in the first round on Sunday, followed by a 294 in the afternoon for a two-round total of 584. Augusta State totaled a 582 (289-293) and UT-San Antonio is in third place with a 591 (296-295).
Augusta State's Casey Kennedy has a comfortable 10-stroke lead after two blistering rounds on Sunday. She opened with a 68 and then fired a six-under par 66 in the afternoon.
Purdue was led by sophomore Paula Reto who is tied for second place after opening with a one-over par 73. She shot a two-under par 71 in the afternoon round for a two-round total of 144.
Senior Maude-Aimee LeBlanc and freshman Alex Stewart are tied for 10th with two-round totals of 147 each. They both shot an even-par 72 in the morning round and then a 75 in the second 18 holes.
Senior Numa Gulyanamitta had Purdue's high round on Sunday morning, with a four-over par 76, but rebounded with a 73 in the afternoon for a two-round score of 149. She is tied for 18th with one round to go.
Sophomore Laura Gonzalez-Escallon is tied for 38th with a 153. She opened with a one-over par 73 but fired an 80 in round two.
Senior Thea Hoffmeister is playing as an individual and is tied for 33rd. She shot a 78 in the first round and a 74 in the second, for a total of 152.
Purdue will tee off at the Forest Hills Golf Club on Monday morning beginning at 9:50 a.m. Live scoring for the final round will be available at golfstat.com and a final recap will be posted to purduesports.com at the conclusion of the round.
