OXFORD, Ohio - Purdue men's swimming posted the best time in all but one event of the night to win its first dual meet of the season, topping Miami (Ohio), 193.5-99.5, Friday evening.

Purdue had the top two finishers in the 50 freestyle, 100 and 200 backstroke, 100 breaststroke and 200 butterfly. The Boilermakers also posted the top two times in both relay events (200 medley and 400 free) of the night.

"It was a good solid meet by our guys," Purdue head coach Dan Ross said. "Phil Geerdes continues to impress. Luke Trimmer in the 1000 free and G. Daniel Michael in the 100 fly also highlighted the night I thought. I think we are set up well going into Northwestern and Notre Dame road trips next weekend."

Brian Kiel won the 200 back, posted the best individual time in the 200 individual medley and finished second to Albert Miller in the 100 breast. Kiel (fly) and Miller (breast) were also part of Purdue's victorious 200 medley relay team along with Steven Ung (back) and Alec LaMothe (free).

Ryan Dafforn, Eduard Galdeano-Castillo and Andrew Starr each won an event and finished second in another. Dafforn touched first in the 200 breast and finished second to Galdeano-Castillo in the 200 fly. Galdeano-Castillo was second to G. Daniel Michael in the 100 fly. Starr won the 100 back and finished second behind Kiel in the 200 back.

Purdue won four of the five individual freestyle events. Ben Ziolkowski (50), Phil Geerdes (200), LaMothe (500) and Luke Trimmer (1,000) were all victorious in their events. Danny Tucker, meanwhile, finished second in the 50 and 100 free.

Geerdes, LaMothe, Starr and Ung also teamed up to help the Boilermakers post the top time in the 400 free relay.

The diving portion of the dual meet was completed last Friday (Oct. 22) at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Purdue's David Boudia won both the 1- and 3-meter events.

The Boilermakers return to action Friday (Nov. 5) for a 6 p.m. (ET) dual meet at Northwestern, their first Big Ten dual of the season.
