The Purdue women's swimming and diving team was defeated by No. 13 Indiana 210-159 Saturday at the Counsilman-Billingsly Aquatic Center on IU's Bloomington campus.

"We had some solid swims today," head coach John Klinge said. "Our divers did a great job leading the way for our team with a 1-2 finish in platform diving. Leah Henninger's 200 free, Ariel Martin's 50 free and Lauren Roth's 500 free were all very good races. Elyse Dudar added a lifetime best in the 1,000 free in one of her last dual meets as a Boilermaker."

Kara Cook earned a victory for the Boilermakers in the platform diving event by scoring a season-best total of 277.05 points off the 10-meter board to top the field of seven divers. Cook has led the Boilermakers in all three platform diving competitions this season. Casey Matthews gave Purdue the top-two finishes off the platform with her personal-best score of 250.28 that improves her standing in 10th on the school's all-time performance list in the event. Matthews placed third in the 3-meter diving competition with 309.15 points, and Cook was seventh with 203.55.

Dudar finished second in the 1,000 freestyle by touching the wall in 10:17.47. Amy Gutwein and Jessica Skiba claimed the next two spots in that event, finishing in 10:23.81 and 10:42.71 respectively.

Purdue's 200 medley relay team of Allie Smith, Jessica Davis, Lisa Butler and Henninger finished second in 1:46.39. The Boilermakers also finished second in the 400 freestyle relay as Butler, Martin, Katie Beck and Henninger touched the wall in 3:30.73.

Henninger led the Boilermakers in the 200 freestyle with her second-place, 1:51.65 finish. Kristen Gilson placed third in that race in 1:54.58 and was followed by Morgan Lebsack and Jenna York in fourth and fifth place.

Purdue also claimed the second through fifth place finishes in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, led by Martin's 23.65 time in the short race and 52.11 showing in the longer race. Butler was third in the 50 freestyle in 24.02, while Sara Bogert finished fourth in 24.36 and Allison Frisbie placed fifth with her time of 26.21. Henninger claimed third in the 100 freestyle in 52.26, Butler was fourth in 52.93 and Bogert finished fifth in 52.72.

Smith earned second-place finishes in the 100 and 200 backstroke races by touching the wall in 56.82 in the 100 and 2:04.19 in the 200. Katie Beck placed fifth in the 100 race with her time of 59.39. Gilson finished third in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.53, and Elizabeth Holmes was fourth in 2:17.33. Davis earned another runner-up finish for the Boilermakers by finishing the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.08. Christina Jacobs finished third in 1:07.22, and Susanne Fawcett was sixth in 1:09.89.

Jacobs led Purdue in the 200 breaststroke with her second-place, 2:29.21 finish, and Fawcett finished third in 2:30.82. Roth led yet another two through five finish by the Boilermakers in the 500 freestyle with her 4:56.35 time. Gutwein finished third in 5:06.35 and was followed by Dudar in 5:12.25 and Skiba in 5:16.12. Roth was the third finisher in the 200 butterfly with her time of 2:04.16, and Christine Inman finished fourth in that race in 2:06.03.

Purdue also earned four of the top-five finishes in the 100 butterfly, led by Beck's second-place finish in 58.04. Inman finished third in 58.36, and Lebsack touched the wall in 59.60 for fourth place. Frisbie was fifth in 1:04.77.

"We are looking forward to next weekend's meet," Klinge said. "It's our last tune up prior to Big Tens."

Purdue next travels to Minneapolis, Minn., to face Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin in a two-day meet that begins Friday.
