SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Purdue University women's track and field team saw another school record fall on Friday night as the distance medley relay squad smashed its own record by nearly seven seconds en route to a fourth-place finish at the Alex Wilson Invitaional, hosted by the University of Notre Dame on Friday night.
Seniors Laura Farley and Corrie Whisner, sophomore Lauren Scott and freshman Kristin Phillips teamed in the effort, clocking a time of 11:17.96. The foursome had already broken the previous school record earlier this season, marking a time of 11:24.97 at the Iowa State Classic. The time drastically improved their NCAA provisional qualifying mark as they hope to head to next weekend's indoor national championships in Fayetteville, Ark.
The remainder of the Boilermaker's entries are set to compete in Saturday's action set to begin at 10:30 a.m.
