It's Lonely At The Top

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - In the first tournament of the 2004 fall season, the Purdue men's golf has the lead at the Michigan/ Radrick Farms Intercollegiate after the first 36 holes.

The Boilermakers fired a tournament-best 291 in the first round and then a 285 on the second 18 holes to sit atop the leaderboard. The Boilermakers total of 576 is two better then second-place Memphis and six ahead of Wisconsin.

The event is being hosted by Michigan and held at the Radrick Farms Golf Course in Ann Arbor. The course is a par 72, 6,979-yard layout.

Purdue was led by sophomore Bobby Bennett, who carded a 71 and 70. Bennett's totaled a three-under 141 and is tied for fourth overall.

Senior Dustin Cone and sophomores Pariya Junhasavasdikul and Peter Richardson are all tied for 20th overall with totals of 147. Cone carded a 74 and 73, while Junhasavasdikul made the biggest turnaround with an afternoon 68 after beginning the day with a 79. Richardson posted rounds of 73 and 74.

Sophomore Brandon Lawson is tied for 28th in his first tournament for the Boilermakers. Lawson is a transfer from Stanford.

The Boilermakers last tournament win was at the Boilermaker Invitational last season.

The final round of the Michigan/ Radrick Farms Intercollegiate begins Sunday at 9 a.m.
