Boilermakers Fifth In First Event Of Fall Season

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Purdue women's golf team finished fifth at the Lady Northern in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Sunday.

The Boilermakers totaled a 906 after 54 holes in two days. Michigan won the event after a total of 881. Ohio State was second with an 885.

The event was hosted by the Michigan and held at the University of Michigan Golf Course. The tournament featured six golfers from each team, with the top four scores counting. The course is a par 72, 5,966-yard layout. It was the first event of the fall season for the Boilermakers.

Purdue was led by sophomore Myrte Eikenaar, who placed fourth overall. She totaled a 220 and fired a 76 on Sunday.

Junior Onnarin Sattayabanphot is tied for 11th overall. She fired a final-round 78 and totaled 226 over the two days.

Freshman Whitney Frykman carded a team-low 76 on Sunday and moved up to a tie for 31st in her first collegiate tournament.

Sophomore Caroline Haase carded a 79 on Sunday and tied for 36th overall. Maria Stinson tied for 56th after a final-round 82. Kara Eschbach tied for 80th place after a total of 251.

The Boilermakers are off until Oct. 8 to 10, when they play in the Mercedes-Benz Invitational in Knoxville, Tenn.
