MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Kyle Black scored 19 points as No. 14 Wisconsin won its ninth straight game, a 71-59 victory over No. 7 Purdue on Friday night in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
Tamara Moore added 17 points, and Jessie Stomski had 13 points and 13 rebounds for Wisconsin (10-1), off to its best start since 1982-83.
Mary Jo Noon scored 17 points for Purdue (9-2), which had beaten Wisconsin five straight times.
Shereka Wright added 14 points for Purdue, but the Boilermakers' leading scorer shot just 5-of-16 from the floor.
Poor shooting put Purdue in a hole from the start. The Boilermakers missed eight of their first nine shots as Wisconsin built a 10-2 lead.
A three-point play by Stephanie Rich gave Wisconsin its biggest lead of the first half, 29-13 with 5:32 remaining.
Purdue cut it to 35-25 in the closing minute of the first half, but Kyle Black's 3-pointer gave Wisconsin a 38-25 lead at intermission.
Purdue shot just 32 percent (11-of-34) in the first half, while Wisconsin shot 48 percent (15-of-31).
Wisconsin maintained a double-digit lead for most of the second half, although Purdue cut it to 66-59 with 1:38 remaining.
But Wisconsin hit 5-of-6 free throws down the stretch, including 3-of-4 by Black.
