William Soulé joined the strategic communications staff in August of 2022 to serve as the primary contact for wrestling and as a secondary for football. Starting in May of 2023, he was tasked with the additional responsibility of managing the various Purdue Football social media accounts.
Soule came to Purdue after serving as a research fellow in the Athletics Communications office at his alma mater Oklahoma for one year. There he was the primary contact for the wrestling and rowing programs in addition to acting as a secondary for the Sooners’ baseball team that earned a berth to the College World Series final.
Prior to his time at Oklahoma, he got his start in collegiate athletics at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) as a communications graduate assistant. He initially handled duties for the soccer, men’s and women’s golf, men’s basketball, and softball programs before briefly acting as the only member of the communications department.
His post-grad career in sports started with the Valero Alamo Bowl as the communications coordinator for the 2020 football season. There he handled responsibilities for the bowl’s website and social media accounts in addition to handling all press operations leading up to and during the game.
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Soule earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and sports management from the University of Oklahoma. He has also completed a Master of Business Administration from SWOSU that he started in his time as a graduate assistant.
