Pooh Williams

Pooh Williams is in his first season as a volunteer assistant coach. Williams won several pole vault events at Purdue, including the 2003 Big Ten Championship and NCAA Regional titles. Williams graduated from Purdue with a bachelors degree in law and society and finished his masters in criminal justice from New Mexico State. The Portland, Ore., native currently works as a social worker in Lafayette.

2002-03: NCAA Mideast Regional Pole Vault Champion ... won regional competition with leap of 5.36 meters (17 feet, 7 inches), which tied a personal best ... recorded first 17-7 flight during the indoor season against Indiana State ... bronze-medal winner in the pole vault at the Big Ten Championships ... also represented Purdue in the decathlon at the conference meet, placing seventh ...  recorded pole vault victories at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational, Boilermaker Invite and against Indiana ... placed second in the pole vault at the Purdue Invitational and at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational ... finished 11th at the Texas Relays ... five of his six leaps have been over the five-meter mark.

2001-02:(Outdoor) Placed fifth in the pole vault at Big Ten's with a clearance of 16-10 ¼ ... led the team with a provisional qualifying, season-best vault of 17-2 ¾ at the Billy Hayes Invitational to finish second ... won the event title at the Purdue and Miami invitationals ... set meet record at the Miami meet with a clearance of 16-8 ¾ ... placed seventh at the Mt. SAC Relays with mark of 16-10 ¾ ... competed in eight meets ... (Indoor) Competed in the pole vault and long jump ... season-best clearance, a provisional qualifying 17-3, won the event title at the Boilermaker Open ... tallied identical marks of 17-0 ¾ in the vault at the Ohio State and Armory invitationals, finishing first and third respectively ... won the vault at the Purdue Open and vs. Indiana .. best long jump effort (21-4 ¾) placed him seventh at the Ohio State Invitational

2000-01: Redshirted due to a knee injury.

1999-2000: (Outdoor) Finished 10th in the pole vault (15-11 ¾) and decathlon (6,311 pts.) at Big Ten's ... top decathlon finishes at the conference meet were first in the vault (16-4 ¾) and third in the discus (128-6) ... runner-up in the vault at the Billy Hayes Invitational (17-1 ½) ... placed fourth in the javelin vs. Indiana with season-best throw of 143-11 ...  (Indoor) Placed fifth in the heptathlon (5,043 pts.) and eighth in the pole vault (16-0 ¾) at Big Ten[apos]s ... won vault at Black and Gold Open, Purdue Open and Indiana State Dual.

1998-99: (Outdoor) Cleared season-best high of 16-0 ¾ at the Palouse Invitational, finishing third ... recorded three additional 15-foot marks on the year ... (Indoor) Recorded team's seventh highest mark with a 15-7 at the Big Ten Championships ... scored 4,478 points in the heptathlon at Big Ten's, placing 14th.
